Legend of Korra. Thoughts. Yay.

I wrote a post earlier today. But then I decided I didn’t like it, so I deleted it.

Anyway, I gotta say. The Legend of Korra is already turning out to be friggin’ crazy! In a good way! In the same way Avatar’s season finales were crazy.

The difference is that with Korra, it’s only the third episode and it’s already kind of insane! And rather dark. And relatively violent…. Nickelodeon isn’t gonna pull this off the air early or anything, right?

Nah, that’ll never happen. It’s Avatar, for goodness’ sake. It’s always been violent for kids’ TV.

The show is pretty darn awesome. And the setting is pretty amazing, since the Avatar world has now gained its own New York City, mafia, cars, sports, radio, stupid rebels (besides Jet I mean), and uh, overall political unrest. Spec-tac-u-lar. And again, much more adult than the original Last Airbender show. In which, you know, they saved the world from evil. Good stuff.

But this time, the main bad guy is probably a lot more evil than the Fire Lord. First of all, he’s started a friggin’ revolution in Republic City—

you know, I’m gonna assume that if you’re actually reading this then you’ve already watched the show. But I’m gonna keep talking about it anyway.

This new bad guy, whose name I do not remember and will not bother to check right now, like I said, has started a revolution. An anti-bending revolution! And why? The source of his hatred comes from the fact that a firebender messed up his whole face!

Much like Zuko, except on a larger scale. And a more eeeeeeevil one!

He’s not trying to regain his honor. I mean, he’s not a prince. That’s not how republics work. What he is trying to do is… get rid of benders altogether!Eeeeevil!

His followers are called ‘equalists.’ It’s not quite communism, I’ll admit, since it’s just, you know, getting rid of benders, and then life goes on as normal. It’s still a republic. But it’s not genocide either, since…

What the flip? he can take away bending now?!! That means he doesn’t really have to kill anyone or even take them prisoner! How did he even get that power, anyway??

What’s worse is that the guy makes some actually good points! His appeals are mostly emotional, of course, but then he says that bending has been the cause of every war ever! Persuasive!

Yup, things are looking pretty bad for our heroes.

Awe. Some.
